Residential

Hacienda del Lago #5
This house is located on a two acre sloped lot that hovers over the main access road with a view towards the Carraizo lake in Trujillo Alto Puerto Rico.

The design of the 4,500 sf house is anchored within the sloping topography maximizing not only the views but also takes advantage of the cool air that rises from the lake mitigating the heat of the tropical climate.

The roofs of the house are oriented to maximize the instalation of solar panels for energy  production and the heating of water. The interior maximizes the use of high sloped roofs and double heigted spaces to maintain cooler temperatures.  Green design criterias such as these were paramount during the design process.

Zayas Residence
The existing residence is a concrete flat roofed structure built in the 1970's. The new owners required a larger living area focused on entertaining friends and were adamant on incorporating a prarie style to the new additions.

The new program called for the addition of two wings to the existing structure: the first faces the street and contains a new entrance foyer, living room, studio and ½ bathroom.

The second wing contains a new family room at the back and a new terrace area. The pool sirves as a focal point to all areas of the house, creating a connection between interior and exterior areas.

Rio Mar 1 Residence
The 8,700 sf residence is located within the gated community of Rio Mar Beach Resort in Rio Grande PR.

The houses main entrance is through the properties high ground. The lot slopes down toward the back of the lot, this condition let the placement of the house to take full advantage of the coastal view from the interior spaces of both levels of the building.

The clients were keen on using organic forms and continiuos flowing spaces for their home. The design uses curved stone walls to focus the main interior views and organizes the design elements of the floor plan.

Rio Mar 2 Residence
This 8,500 sf residence is the second residence designed for the gated community of Rio Mar Beach Resort.

Although site conditions were very similar to the previous residence the owners aesthetic sensibilities were not, prefering angled spaces to achieve the desired framing of views from the interior.

The use of wall water fountains, infinity edged pools and interior floor ponds sirve as an organizing element throughout the design not only maintaining a constant visual element but also the tranquilizing sound effect of the water in movement.
